Attorney Chantel Cherry-Lassiter grew up in the small town of Hertford, North Carolina. She relocated to Elizabeth City, North Carolina during her middle school years.

Attorney Cherry-Lassiter earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Elizabeth City State University and her Masters of Public Administration from Strayer University. She began her legal career working as a Paralegal in the Law Office of Cheryl Johnson and following her stint as a Paralegal, she spent 8 years with the Department of Health and Human Services as a Child Support Agent. Chantel then served as the Travel Policy Specialist at Elizabeth City State University for 3 years before beginning her law school journey.

Attorney Cherry-Lassiter is a graduate of North Carolina Central University School of Law. While attending law school, she was awarded the Pro Bono Award for outstanding service to underserved communities. She earned a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from Elizabeth City State University and her Masters of Public Administration from Strayer University.

Attorney Cherry-Lassiter l has always been dedicated to the fight for justice. She joined the youth NAACP at an early age and participated in community service activities as a teenager. Chantel continued to follow her passion and fight for equality while attending North Carolina Central University School of Law. She was a founding member of the NCCU School of Law Civil Rights Society.

In recognition of her dedication to serving the undeserved, Attorney Cherry-Lassiter was honored to earn the H.M.Michaux Award. This award is given to those who exhibit dedication to civil rights. The H.M. Michaux Award for Public Service is awarded to the student who has distinguished theirselves by making outstanding contributions to the community while enrolled as a student at NCCU School of Law.

Ultimately Attorney Cherry-Lassiter earned a Certification in Civil Rights and Constitutional Law from North Carolina Central School of Law.

Attorney Cherry-Lassiter’s role as Guardian Ad Litem with the North Carolina Judicial Branch and Staff Attorney with the Southern Coalition for Social Justice helped prepare her in opening the Chantel Cherry-Lassiter Law Office, PLLC (CCL LAW). CCL LAW focuses on Civil Rights, Child Custody and Child Support, Juvenile Law, and Personal Injury.
